Introduction

It takes a small detour to get to the town of Ságvár, the name of which refers to a castle ("vár" means castle in Hungarian). Indeed, archaeologists found the remains of a Roman castle wall in the garden of the Reformed Church. Nothing else shows the existence of the former military buildings anymore, although other local castles built later (Böre Castle, Klastromhely) were witness to several battles under the Turkish occupation.
